Between Separation and Connected-ness
As human beings, we all share and feel the need to understand our relationship with the universe. How do we find meaning in existence, especially our existence as individuals? Reality and illusion are sides of the currency of our lease on life. We are convinced that there is a separation between the observer and the observed and, yet, we feel that everything is, somehow, interconnected. Perhaps this is what I intend to explore in my art: the separation and interconnected-ness of things and beings; distant and close; familiar and, yet, strange. These contradictions reflect in my work subconsciously... in the juxtaposition of irrational facets or images of life, as my metaphor for the ultimately-inexplicable beauty that it is.
